I am pleased to inform you that Angénieux has just introduced this morning @ IBC show (Amsterdam) a new anamorphic zoom lens to complete its Optimo anamorphic line. This line is now composed by the Optimo anamorphic 56-152mm and the Optimo anamorphic 30-72mm. Based on the optical design of the 2012 SOC and 2009 Academy of Motion Picture award winning Optimo 28-76mm and 15-40mm zoom lenses, the optical design of the Optimo Anamorphic lenses weaves in cylindrical and spherical optical elements in the rear group. This unique design technique yields significantly superior optical performance (exceptional sharpness and lower distortion) over the lenses on the market that are simply equipped with rear anamorphic attachment. Additionally, the design allows the zoom lens to remain extremely light weight. The two characteristics of Optimo Anamorphic allow the user to achieve a new level of performance and freedom of movement while shooting in anamorphic format and have no equivalent on the market. They are the first true handheld anamorphic zoom lenses with the best weight, size, aperture and performance ratio. Both lenses are available for purchase in India. First deliveries of the Optimo Anamorphic 30-72 are planned by mid-2015 on a first-come first-served basis. Place your order at the earliest to get it first! If you plan to visit IBC show (Sept 12th – 16th), please feel free to visit our booth (11-F34)! Also, please note that these lenses will be at Cinec show (Munich, from Sept 21st to 23rd) and at Broadcast India show.

How to quickly check a lens for resolution and sharpness and focal length? Use it as a projector with Denz Portable Lens Projector. The DENZ PLC is a LED projector for checking the resolution and the focal length of lenses right up to the full format. A precisely positioned new test slide (DENZ CHART – Klick for zoom) can be used to check the focal length of the lens. For this, the position is read directly from the dial to <0.01mm. Likewise, sharpeness of the center / edge, image distortion, homogeneity, lens marking of the distance and “pumping” can be tested in analogy to a commercially available stand projector. The DENZ chart offers classical linepairs (from 12-200lp / mm) and Siemens star, where the image resolution is directly readable – even anamorphic 2: 1!The DENZ chart incorporates all modern sensor sizes: 1 “, MFT, APS-C, Super35, RED Helium, full format. Despite all compactness, great importance is placed on user-friendliness and usability. For dark test rooms, there is a working light (gooseneck lamp with 20cm/7,87”) included and the leveling lantern is illuminated. Additional equipment can be attached to the flash shoe, while the standard 24V power supply reliably hangs on the tripod. The DENZ PLC can be screwed to three ¼ “ threads on the bottom, providing the necessary stability for heavy lenses. As an optional accessory, DENZ offers the support system DAVID or the DENZ DSLR support. A solid carrying handle completes a comfortable handling. Full details onthe website.
