Grierson 2013 is open to documentaries that have had their fiirst UK screenign between 1 May 2012 and 30 April 2013. Entries for Grierson 2013 will be accepted online from Tuesday, 2 April and the closing date for entries isFriday, 31 May.


About Grierson Awards

The Grierson Awards commemorate the pioneering Scottish documentary filmmakerJohn Grierson (1898 – 1972), famous forDrifters and Night Mail and the man widely regarded as the father of the documentary.

Established in 1972, the Grierson Awards recognise and celebrate documentaries from Britain and abroad that have made a significant contribution to the genre and that demonstrate quality, integrity, creativity, originality and overall excellence.

Awards are given in a number of categories, including Arts, History, Science and Contemporary Theme, as well as to first time and student filmmakers.
