Film Review- Mrs. Serial Killer

Post by MEDHAVINI »

Film Review-   Mrs. Serial Killer on Netflix

I like the vastness of Bollywood cinema and the offerings mushrooming on Netflix, a platform for some real good cinema for viewers who love to explore different genres.

This one from Shirish Kunder deserves applause, for it revamps the dark film category coming out of Bollywood and also highlights the blooming of some slow paced films, in the zip-zap-zoom world of edged-editing in recent cinema.

Shrish Kunder brings to the viewers, a film which moves slow as modern-aged snail yet catches the darkness in its most candid form!

The star cast is riveting and   adds charming darkness to the film equalizing on the pace factor.

Thanks to all the Netflix Originals, viewers are having a great time with all the varied offerings on the platform, satiating the need of good cinema across categories.

The film opens up with Jacqueline Fernandez fully-zoomed onto, to personify madness, gloom, darkness, despair and a touch of psychotic feel.

The first act will engage the audience to sift through the oncoming misery meted out to the lady who's made captive and layer by layer, progresses to the suspense connected to the kidnapped girls in the small hilly town.

The film revolves around Mrs.Sona Mujkherjee (Jacqueline Fernandez), Dr.Mrityunjoy Mukherjee (Manoj Bajpai) & Inspector Imran Shahid (Mohit Raina).

The star-cast sustains the darkness of the script and unerringly delivers the murder mystery, revolving around the Doctor and his wife.

Most of the film runs on the dainty shoulders of Mrs. Sona Mukherjee and she glamorously takes the onus of helping hubby dear, Doctor Mukherjee.

The battle for proving his innocence or rather unimaginable twist in the tale intensifies with the presence of Sona's ex-lover in the guise of Inspector probing the murder mystery behind the missing girls and the torturous crime!

Part of the film's shot in Uttarkhand's beautiful hilly locales which adds to beauty to an otherwise dark film, especially the pretty old-world British cottages shown in the film.

Jacqueline Fernandez, as the wife, the sufferer, the patsy, is fresh, convincing, suave and lends enough mettle to the character of Sona.

Manoj Bajpai was born to act and as Doctor, he gets into the skin of the dark character.

He is city's famous   male gynecologist and not to miss the dialogue of Dr. Mrityunjoy Mukherjee, "a bald hair-stylist."

Dr. Mukherjee is in love with his wife and absolutely adores her but the twists in his story creates confusion in the beginning for the viewers suddenly changes, adding intensified darkness to not only the film but also the character.

The ex-lover aka Inspector Imran Shahid (Mohit Raina), lends a lot of muscular action to the dark mystery of the missing girls and ensures the viewers, till the end, blame goes to the poor damsel in distress, his beautiful ex-love! The reasonably well toned body in uniform is all out to bang a few tables and crush a few bones while investigating the mysteries and sometimes even falls in the circle of serious doubt....

The praise worthy supporting characters like the sole alive, abducted victim, Ansuhka Tiwari (Zayn Marie Khan), the Lawyer of Dr. Mukherjee, Mr. Brij  Rastogi (Darshan Jariwala) are all well balanced out in their deliveries adding extra dark charm to the film ensuring the viewers are not left to suffer on account of slow pace of the film. But hold onto, till the end inches nearer and the viewers are engulfed into the darkness, craving for the closing of the investigation and revealing the real killer !!

Get a dose of some dark mystery on Netflix with Mrs. Sona Mukherjee :)
