How To Start Podcasting

Post by s_meera1 »

Podcasts are becoming a big thing and rightfully so.

"India is the world's third largest podcast listening market and as per a PWC report, the number of listeners is going to rise from four crore in 2018 to 17.61 crore in 2023. India's music, radio and podcasts market was worth Rs 5,753 crore in 2018 and could hit upwards of Rs 10,000 crore by 2023."

So what IS a Podcast? According to Wikipedia : "A podcast is an episodic series of spoken word digital audio files that a user can download to a personal device for easy listening. Streaming applications and podcasting services provide a convenient and integrated way to manage a personal consumption queue across many podcast sources and playback devices."

To put it more succintly, a Podcast is to radio/audio content, what YouTube is to video content. Vauguely, but almost.

Anyone can create and upload Podcast content online and anyone can subscribe to the content. The best thing is, as yet, Podcasts are democratic, with no 'gatekeepers'. Anyone can create and upload content and maintain a subscriber base and directly benefit.

There are plenty of places to host your audio content. You could do it on SoundCloud or your own website host. If you search you will find plenty of them, like Buzzsprout, Spreaker, Podbean, SimpleCast etc. Find one that suits your budget and requirements.

Then you need to submit your podcast RSS feed to Podcast directories.

Apple Podcasts : The biggest.

Spotify.

TuneIn

Amazon Music PodCasts.

And you an search for many other places, but these would cover a vast majority.
